Avocado Chips
FOOD AS MEDICINE
Avocado is a great source of the “grand-mama” antioxidant, glutathione, that plays a major role in immune function, cancer prevention, detox and beyond. Glutathione is found in every cell of the body and protects the cells from oxidative damage. More on how to boost glutathione in this blog! If you’re getting burned out on the same old avocado half sprinkled with sea salt (which we’ll probably never get tired of!), try these avocado chips as a keto-friendly and healthy-fat focused snack! Cumin not only elevates the flavor but it is a potent source of antioxidants including glutathione as well! Think of these like parm crisp meets guacamole meets chip!
INGREDIENTS
1 large ripe avocado
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cumin
Generous pinch sea salt + black pepper
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with unbleached parchment paper. In a small bowl, mash avocado with a fork until smooth and add in parmesan, lemon juice and spices. Stir to incorporate. Scoop in heaping tablespoons onto baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Press down until flattened with back of a spoon. Bake about 15-20 minutes, until golden and crisp. Allow to cool before serving with desired toppings or dip of choice!
