Bacon Avocado “Fries”
BACON AVOCADO “FRIES”
FOOD AS MEDICINE:
Bacon is chock full of a very important nutrient called “choline,” which helps increase our intelligence and memory, from conception to Senior Status, and has been shown in university studies to help fight off the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s Disease and other chronic mental impairments. Bacon provides us with substantial amounts of the important, necessary vitamins and minerals our bodies need to function healthfully. From bacon, we receive: 65% of our recommended daily intake of Thiamin (Vitamin B1) as well as 47% of our Niacin (Vitamin B3), 38% of our Vitamin B12, 36% of our Zinc, 24% of our Vitamin B6, 22% of our Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), 22% of our Phosphorus, 10% of our Pantothenate, 10% of our Magnesium and 9% of our Iron! The important priority is choosing a locally sourced pasture raised product free of nitrites, growth hormones, and antibiotics. Not only will this be less toxic but it will provide more nourishment. Combining your clean bacon with fiber, vegetables, and antioxidants is a great way to ensure disease prevention and satiate your palate.
INGREDIENTS:
1 medium avocado
4 pieces bacon
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Slice the avocado in half and remove the pit. Slice into quarters, then into eighths. Remove the peel.
Cut each piece of bacon in half. Wrap each avocado slice tightly in bacon. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping once, until bacon is fully cooked. Remove from the oven and allow to drain on paper towels. Serve with hot sauce for dipping (we like Yellowbird).
