Bone Broth Bloody Mary
BONE BROTH BLOODY MARY
FOOD AS MEDICINE
Cocktails as medicine? Especially in the traditional sense, a bloody mary can actually feel that way after a night of a little too much fun! This bloody mary uses bone broth to ramp up electrolyte profile, reduce gut distress and support a healthy gut lining and get you back to feeling human sooner! I also use probiotic pickle juice and garnish with fermented pickles to support healthy gut flora. This can be done with or without alcohol and sans alcohol could make for a yummy snack!
INGREDIENTS
3 cups chicken bone broth (Link our recipe)
1 32-oz bottle of Organic Tomato Juice
3 oz pickle juice, choose one with live probiotics like Bubbies or Barrel Creek
1 tsp freshly ground pepper
1 Tbsp coconut aminos
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 inch horseradish or 1 tsp Bubbies fermented horseradish paste
Optional: hot sauce of choice to taste
Optional: 12 oz of vodka
For Garnish:
pickled vegetables with live active probiotics (okra, carrots, pickles etc)
olives
lemon wedge
6 celery sticks
6 slices of cooked bacon
Mixture 1:1 of chili powder and sea salt for the rim
DIRECTIONS
In a sauce pan warm bone broth just enough to incorporate fat and gelatin, then allow to cool to room temperature. Mix room temp broth with all ingredients in a large jar or pitcher, adding the horseradish by zesting into container to taste. Rub tops of glasses with lemon and dip glasses in salt and chili powder mixture, then fill with ice and pour in drink adding garnish as desired per glass.
