Cacao Hazelnut Spread
CACAO HAZELNUT SPREAD
FOOD AS MEDICINE
This spread is reminiscent of Nutella without all the preservatives and sugar! It can be eaten alone, used as a dip for fruit or added to keto coffee on non-fasting days! The antioxidants in cacao exceed red wine and even green tea. Cacao is high in magnesium, which can help to lower blood pressure and relax muscles.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups hazelnuts
¼ cup raw cacao powder
2 Tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 generous pinch sea salt
Optional: 1 Tbsp raw local honey or maple syrup (omit for keto)
DIRECTIONS
Place the hazelnuts in food processor with an S blade and process until nuts are fully broken down into a flour and you see a line of nut butter beginning to form. Add the remaining ingredients and process again until smooth throughout. Taste and adjust salt, vanilla or cacao if needed. Store in a ball jar in the fridge and serve with sliced apples, add a tablespoon to your keto coffee on a non-fasting day or enjoy straight up out of the jar!
