Naturally Nourished Acai Bowl
NATURALLY NOURISHED ACAI BOWL
FOOD AS MEDICINE
Acai berries have been shown in some studies to be richer in protective antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries or goji berries. Their deep purple pigment tells us that they are a rich source of anthocyanins and concentration of this particular antioxidant is estimated to be between 10-30x higher than red wine. Acai is also a good source of Vitamins A and C and a great source of the mineral manganese. Acai is also believed to help control appetite hormones, increase energy and cognition and promote healthy and resilient skin.
INGREDIENTS
1 frozen Acai pack
½ cup frozen mango
¼ cup coconut milk full fat
½ avocado
1 scoop Naturally Nourished Grassfed Whey or 2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
2 Tbsp large coconut shreds
optional additional toppings: sliced banana, nuts of choice, chia seeds, goji berries, bee pollen, cacao nibs
DIRECTIONS
Allow the acai pack to thaw slightly so that it can be broken into pieces by hand or with a knife. Place acai pack, fozen mango, coconut milk and avocado in a blender and blend on medium speed until incorporated. Continue to blend until consistency is smooth throughout. You can add additional coconut milk or water if needed to thin or additional frozen mango to thicken. At the last 10-15 seconds of blending, add in the scoop of protein powder. Divide between bowls and top with hemp seeds and coconut flakes or additional toppings if desired!
