Tea Tonics 3 Ways
TEA AS MEDICINE
Tea can be an awesome ritual that can have benefits in boosting the body’s metabolism, enhancing outcomes of a fast and may even improve the body’s ability to fight disease. Tea is considered a health elixir and has longevity in many ancient cultures. We love using tea as a way to prolong intermittent fasting or to close off eating window after a meal. Here are just a few of its many benefits specific to weight loss and fasting:
- Can dramatically reduce hunger pangs by lowering ghrelin levels (your hunger hormone)
- Aids in weight loss. Green tea, in particular, has been shown to reduce body fat as well as LDL cholesterol. The catechins in green tea have been shown to aid in visceral fat burn and reduce waist circumference. Tea has also been seen to increase ketone production.
- Drinking tea can enhance the rate of autophagy or cellular repair that is seen in intermittent fasting
- Boosts detoxification due to high levels of polyphenols. The polyphenols found in tea can also support gut health, skin, energy, mental clarity, immune health and stress reduction

WHY WE LOVE PIQUE TEA
We love Pique Tea as an easy, organic product with a convenient delivery. It has a patented cold crystallization method that gently extracts all naturally occurring antioxidants and phytonutrients in their entirety and preserves them without any loss. Pique delivers up to 12x the polyphenols of other teas (verified by 3rd party testing). They also perform triple toxin screening for commonly found toxins like 1) Pesticides, 2) Heavy metals and 3) Toxic mold. Tea is one of the most pesticide-laden crops and commonly farmed in areas of high industrial pollution. With unnaturally long shelf-lives, teabags can also accumulate toxic mold in harmful quantities.
TEA TONICS 3 WAYS
These 3 tea tonics are fun mocktail options to sip on a hot summer afternoon (or anytime!) We used Pique tea sachets in the recipes but if you don’t have on hand you can brew a cup of any of the teas we used from loose-leaf or an organic tea bag. The recipes provided are per individual serving but you can easily scale up to make a pitcher for entertaining!
